Portable Sewing Kit

A Digital Prototype

A container that is small enough to fit in a pocket to store sewing supplies. It was created with CNC coding and a CNC vertical mill in mind.
For the final product it would be made out of hard wood and the inside pockets would be lined with recycled fabric. The whole thing would be tied with a ribbon to hold it shut.(not pictured)

Sketches

I started by sketching my ideas down on paper, focusing on how I wanted the top and bottom parts to interact. I also p[aid close attention to the sizes of each pocket and how deep they will go.

Version 1

My first digital prototype had the top and bottom pieces slide into each other and locked with a key. I found this design difficult to manufacture with the materials available to me at the time so I made a second version to fix that issue.

Final Version

I changed the joining design to one more easily machineable. The top lays into the bottom and is held closed with a ribbon (not pictured)
