Sketches
I created several sketches of different possible designs. I decided to go with the original inspired design.
When sketching I needed to keep in mind that I would have to sit in the chair for more than an hour without the chair collapsing.
1/4th Scale Model
I created a scale model to test the look and strength of the chair. There are a lot of pieces that need to work together so I took the opportunity to create a pattern to follow when I make the chair in full scale.
The miniature chair can hold up to 21lb
Final Product
I created the final product following the pattern I created. I added extra stability to the main stool part to ensure that it would last way past the hour requirement.
